The Chevron ENGINE – Lead/Senior Network Engineer-RFis responsible for consulting, designing, and deploying RF technologies and solutions for the enterprise and their business partners. As a team member, you will use you’re a diverse amount ofRF infrastructure experience and network knowledge to serve as a subject matter expert and project consultant to improve or introduce network-driving RF capabilities. You will work closely with architects, business partners, managed service partners, vendors, and other professionals to solve difficult, rapidly changing technical challenges. 

Where new technologies are introduced, the Lead/Senior Network Engineer-RFwill understand enough of the connectivity details of various RF and other network technologies and solutions. This includes theiruse cases as part of Chevron’s business, industrial or process control networks. This is so that they can work closely with the cybersecurity team to ensure Chevron is protected from external threats and with the Operations team to integrate the solution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Wireless system design using multipoint, cellular, and/or Wimax protocols

• Indoor and/or outdoor DAS/WiFi AP layouts including site surveys

• Two-way radio system support using Analog, TETRA, DMR, or P25 standards

• Scada and process control communication systems

• Propagation coverage studies using a major propagation tool (EDX, Atoll, etc.) 

• Link budget creation and analysis 

• Point-to-Point microwave systems and backhaul design 

• Satellite system integration 

• 4G/5G core understanding, provisioning, and basic IP architectures 

• Radio Frequency IP transport systems implementation and troubleshooting.

• Communication and Tower system document and drawings (Visio and/or AutoCAD)

• Requirement gathering and how to interact with multiple internal and external stakeholders to design and engineer our network infrastructure to support the Network Product team

• Create technical design documentation and implementation/test plans. 

• Provide comprehensive tier-3 support for the operational teams, this includes working with and coordinating vendors and service providers.

• Follows standard change management processes and practices when introducing technical changes to the environment.

Required Skills:

• A bachelor's or master’s degree in electrical engineering with a focus on RF/communications, or a closely related field. 

• A minimum of 10-years (senior) or 15-years (lead) of experience in network/RF engineering or wireless communications with exposure to their design for industrial facilities

• English languageproficiency (advanced) 

• RF productandsoftware toolsexperience and certifications, including at least (1) RF propagation toolset. Please describe.

• Skilled to advanced knowledge demonstration in RF, including project experience

• An understanding and demonstrated design experience with a minimum of (2-3)RF technologies. A non-exclusive list of some technologiesmay includeWiFI, cellular (4G/5G), satellite, point-to-point microwave, multipoint, WiMAX, LoRaWAN/IoT, or two-way radio

• An understanding and demonstrated design experience with multipleRF test tools. A non-exclusive list of some technologiesmay includespectrum analysis, network analysis, RF emulation, or drive test tools 

• An understanding of how to use IP network monitoring and provisioning solutions to ensure optimal performance and operation

Optional Skills:

• CCNP, CCWP, or CCIE certification

• Aruba Wireless training

• GIS Mapping tool proficiency such as ArcGIS or Mapinfo

• IP Transport configuration understanding for RF devices (e.g. PTP/PTMP/cellular modems)

• Vendor knowledge - Cambium, Aviat, NEC)

• Basic proficiency in scripting and automation, particularly using Python.

• Basic understanding of Network Access Control through solutions such as Cisco ISE and Aruba ClearPass

• Security management utilizing Palo Alto Firewalls and Panorama
