About the position:
Chevron invites applications for the role of Operational Technology (OT) Cloud Engineer within our OT Edge Compute team in India. This position has responsibility for the critical platforms, tools, and capabilities that provide on and off-premise Cloud infrastructure services to every Chevron business units and sites. This position will provide broad exposure to the application of technology to enable business with many opportunities for growth and professional development for the candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop, implement, optimize, and maintain hybrid and Cloud-hosted solutions that exist in Edge-based environments
• Responsible for packaging technology solutions into a cohesive offering to support applications and managing the migration to on- and off-prem Cloud platforms
• Responsible for integrating the hybrid and multiple cloud strategies and initiatives at Chevron
• Provide design, configuration, deployment and operational maintenance of network and compute/storage technologies to ensure continuous availability of secured and reliable network services to the enterprise
• Support new project deployments, as well as the operations and life-cycling of existing systems in the field
• Collaborate with OT and IT teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of cloud and edge solutions
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices for security and data privacy in OT environments
• Monitor and optimize the performance of OT cloud and edge computing infrastructure
• Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting and resolving complex issues related to OT cloud and edge systems
• Provide for the identification, analysis, and resolution of infrastructure vulnerabilities for hardware and software related solutions
• Interact with clients, provide cloud and on-premise support, assessments and make recommendations based on client needs
• Mentor and assist other team members to ensure cross-training, to enhance overall IT Engineering organizational capability
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer science engineering or related field.
• Overall experience 5+ years in hybrid environments utilizing Azure and VMWare. 5 - 10 years of experience
• Microsoft AZ900 Certification
• Microsoft AZ800 or AZ801 Certification
• SAFe Agile framework experience
• Extensive experience in deploying, managing, and troubleshooting physical server infrastructure in remote and edge-based environments
• Proficiency in VMware technologies, including vSphere, vCenter, and VSan
• Strong understanding of hybrid cloud environments, including integration and management of on-premises and cloud resources
• Deep knowledge of virtualization concepts and technologies, particularly those related to VMware and Azure
• Solid understanding of networking principles and technologies, including VPNs, firewalls, routing and switching
• Familiarity with cloud security best practices and tools to ensure secure deployment and management of cloud resources. Emphasis on DMZ environments and experience with Perdue Model
• Familiar with edge computing concepts and techniques
• Proficiency in automation and scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash to automate cloud operations
• Solid understanding of OT systems, including SCADA, PLCs, and industrial communication protocols
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to document and explain technical details clearly
• Physical hardware knowledge and experience with emphasis on configuration, clustering, external storage, networking and Hypervisors
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) in edge computing scenarios
• Knowledge of industrial cybersecurity standards and frameworks (e.g., IEC 62443, NIST)
• Experience with network design and management, including VPNs, firewalls, and routing in an OT context
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (Git, Jenkins, Ansible) in a hybrid OT/IT environment
• Understanding of data analytics and machine learning concepts as applied to OT data
• Prior experience working in industrial sectors such as oil and gas, Manufacturing, Energy
• Ability to lead projects and initiatives with minimal supervision
• Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1.30pm to 10.30pm.
