We are seeking quantitatively skilled analysts that sit in the central analytics team to develop and maintain comprehensive global supply-demand models for either crude oil, refined products, and natural gas or all. These roles involve quantitative modeling, and market trend analysis, to provide actionable insights to support trading strategies and risk management. Ideal candidates thrive in a fast-paced environment, bring deep energy market fundamentals knowledge, natural curiosity, and technical expertise in data science.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

Modeling & Forecasting

  • Build, maintain, and enhance global Supply and Demand (S&D) models for crude oil, refined products, and natural gas at country, regional, and global levels.
  • Model refining margins, crack spreads, and refinery utilization based on configuration, turnarounds, and feedstock economics.
  • Model gas production, pipeline flows, LNG liquefaction/export capacity, regasification trends, and seasonal storage dynamics.
  • Forecast short- and medium-term market balances using statistical, econometric, and machine learning techniques.

Market Monitoring & Analysis

  • Track macro and micro trends impacting physical and financial markets: OPEC+ decisions, refinery outages, gas pipeline outages, weather forecasts, sanctions, and arbitrage flows.
  • Monitor inventory movements, onshore/offshore, imports/exports, and demand signals via public and proprietary data sources (e.g., EIA, Platts, Kpler, Genscape, Vortexa, S&P Global, JODI, etc.).
  • Interpret product balances (gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, fuel oil) and gas balances (residential, power gen, industrial) to identify price dislocations and arbitrage opportunities.

Trading Desk Support

  • Deliver timely market insights and scenario analysis to crude, refined product, and natural gas trading desks.
  • Contribute to trading signals, price forecasting, and commercial decision support via data analytics and historical back testing.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Present views to senior management, commercial teams, and external partners.
  • Create dashboards and reports that communicate complex analysis in a concise, actionable format.
  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives, including energy transition scenario planning, carbon-intensity analysis, and LNG trading support.

Data & Systems

  • Integrate alternative datasets (AIS, satellite, mobility, power demand, etc.) into supply-demand and price forecasting workflows.
  • Automate data pipelines and model refreshes using Python, SQL, and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Ensure transparency, documentation, and version control of all fundamental models and assumptions.

Required Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of global oil and gas markets, including upstream/downstream dynamics, midstream infrastructure, and pricing mechanisms.
  • Strong programming and modeling skills in Python, Excel, and SQL, with a solid foundation in time series forecasting, regression, or statistical modeling.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • Familiarity with gas-specific analytics, including LNG flows, storage behavior, weather-adjusted demand, and basis differentials.
