Overview

The Digital Core Asset Management Architect is responsible for the overall solution architecture and design governance for the Asset Management domain, ensuring solutions align with business objectives, enterprise architecture standards, and Chevron’s Digital Core strategy.

This role provides technical leadership across SAP Asset Management capabilities, guides Design Architects and delivery teams, approves solution designs and green-pattern extensions, and governs the use of Fast Track delivery approaches where appropriate.

As a key architecture leader, the architect collaborates with business and technical stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, reliable, and maintainable solutions. The role also represents Asset Management designs in Architecture Runway and other governance forums to promote consistent and high-quality outcomes across the Digital Core portfolio. In addition, the architect supports the resolution of technical issues involving infrastructure, system integrations, and enterprise platforms.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the architecture and design of SAP Asset Management capabilities, including:
    • Maintenance Work Management
    • Enterprise Asset Management
    • Intelligent Asset Management
    • Asset Performance Management
    • Master Data Governance
    • Prometheus Scheduling and Mobile solutions
    • Analytics and reporting platforms
  • Provide architecture leadership across SAP EAM processes, including technical objects, work management, maintenance planning and scheduling, inspection and compliance, and resource and cost management.
  • Support SAP Intelligent Asset Management capabilities, including asset strategies, asset health, risk and criticality, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Reliability-Centered Maintenance, Fixed Equipment Integrity Management, deviation management, and SAP API Management.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and translate requirements into scalable technology solutions.
  • Drive standardization and fit-to-standard SAP solutions while reducing unnecessary custom extensions.
  • Align Asset Management processes with enterprise standards, including FIRM work processes.
  • Guide Design Architects and development teams on architecture and technical design decisions.
  • Review integrations between SAP and enterprise platforms, including Azure Data Lake, SAP Business Technology Platform, API Management, Prometheus, Documentum, Master Data Governance, GIS, and external integrity systems.
  • Ensure solutions follow security, scalability, reliability, clean-core, and maintainability principles.
  • Conduct or participate in architecture assurance reviews to confirm alignment with Chevron engineering and design standards.
  • Guide delivery teams through Policy 564 and other applicable architecture and governance reviews.
  • Participate in roadmap planning, release governance, solution reviews, Architecture Runway discussions, and architecture boards.
  • Lead fit-gap analysis, product backlog prioritization, and architecture decisions across releases, while maintaining alignment with Enterprise Design.
  • Provide architecture oversight for Asset Master Data Governance and data quality solutions.
  • Support mobility and scheduling capabilities, including Prometheus Mobile and Prometheus Web Scheduler.
  • Provide architecture oversight for analytics solutions, including SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP Embedded Analytics, and Azure Data Lake.
  • Collaborate with solution providers, vendors, and strategic partners.
  • Influence the adoption of future SAP roadmap capabilities and help reduce custom extensions where appropriate.
  • Support the resolution of technical issues related to infrastructure, system integrations, and enterprise applications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Business Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 10+ years of experience in SAP Asset Management, Enterprise Asset Management, solution architecture, enterprise architecture, or a related technology discipline.
  • Experience designing or governing enterprise solutions across SAP Asset Management capabilities.
  • Experience with SAP EAM processes such as technical objects, maintenance work management, maintenance planning and scheduling, inspection and compliance, or resource and cost management.
  • Experience with enterprise integrations involving SAP and related platforms, applications, APIs, or data solutions.
  • Experience working with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technology solutions.
  • Experience providing technical leadership and architecture guidance to design and delivery teams.
  • Knowledge of solution architecture principles related to scalability, security, reliability, maintainability, and clean-core practices.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, or an MBA with a technology focus.
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry or another asset-intensive industry.
  • Experience with SAP Intelligent Asset Management, Asset Performance Management, Master Data Governance, or SAP Business Technology Platform.
  • Experience with Prometheus Mobile, Prometheus Web Scheduler, SAP Analytics Cloud, Embedded Analytics, Azure Data Lake, API Management, Documentum, GIS, or external integrity systems.
  • Experience with architecture assurance reviews, roadmap planning, release governance, architecture boards, and enterprise design standards.
  • Experience working with vendors, implementation partners, and SAP solution providers.
  • Experience supporting fit-to-standard SAP delivery and reducing custom extensions.
  • Relevant SAP, enterprise architecture, or cloud certifications.
