Chevron is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to work in the Downstream, Midstream, and Chemicals (DMC) organization as a subject matter expert in naphtha processes, including Hydrotreating, Isomerization, Continuous and Semi-Regeneration Reforming. Chevron is committed to maintaining a high level of technical expertise in the DMC organization to maintain an industry leading position in safe, reliable, and profitable operation of its refineries. This position is relied upon across DMC for technical mentoring of unit engineers, process optimization, technical troubleshooting, gross margin improvement, new technology assessment/implementation, and process safety improvements and evaluations. It is required that the individual has demonstrated expertise in Naphtha process technologies. A typical travel commitment of 25-40% is expected.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
- Provide process troubleshooting support, make technical recommendations, answer technical inquiries, improve process engineering tools, and develop process procedures
- Provide support and carry out studies to improve plant safety, reliability, and economics
- Develop and implement innovative process designs and operating parameters for naphtha process units.
- Evaluate and optimize catalysts and technologies to boost efficiency, yield, and product quality.
- Provide expert technical support for operating facilities, addressing and resolving operational challenges.
- Collaborate with technology licensors and vendors to assess and integrate new technologies.
- Conduct process simulation studies aimed at enhancing reforming operations and identifying areas for improvement.
- Create and present technical papers detailing naphtha technologies and best practices.
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians, fostering their skills and knowledge in naphtha technologies.
- Works in collaboration with specialists and engineers of other disciplines
- Influence and improve work processes across DMC
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering
- 15+ years of experience in refinery or petrochemical operations with a focus on naphtha hydrotreating, isomerization, and reforming technologies, including reforming with Continuous Regeneration
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of addressing complex operational issues.
- An aptitude for practical application of the chemical engineering fundamentals of mass transfer/distillation, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, process control and kinetics
- Has technical curiosity; Interested in developing a strong process engineering foundation before moving on to leadership or other non-process engineering opportunities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience supporting major turnarounds and/or capital project execution
- Proficiency in process simulation software packages, such as Aspen/HYSYS.
- Familiarity with process monitoring tools and process modeling software. PI, Seeq, PROII, etc.
- Awareness of Process Safety Management concepts and principles such as PHA, LOPA, AOA, IOWs etc.
- Experience with Merox and/or other Treating Processes.

Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.

- The anticipated salary range for this position is $153,900 – $307,100. The selected candidate’s compensation will be determined based on their skills, experience, and qualifications.
