Chevron seeks a highly motivated and analytical Trading Commercial Analyst to join our Trading Analytics team. This role is pivotal in supporting Chevron’s global trading operations by delivering actionable insights on market fundamentals, trade flows, competitor activity, and industry trends. The successful candidate will help drive commercial value by informing strategic trading decisions and optimizing portfolio performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and evaluate market fundamentals, pricing structures, global trade flows, and competitor production profiles to generate insights that support trading strategies.
- Lead and facilitate discussions on market fundamentals with traders and analysts, providing timely data and analysis to shape market views and inform trade ideas across physical and financial markets.
- Collaborate with global trading desks (Houston, Singapore, Dubai, London) to identify arbitrage opportunities, optimize supply/demand models, and support cross-commodity strategies.
- Develop and maintain quantitative models and dashboards to forecast key market drivers, such as infrastructure, supply/demand balances, and production trends—leveraging advanced analytics and scenario planning.
- Identify and recommend trading opportunities using deterministic and stochastic modeling techniques, applying quantitative risk frameworks to guide decision-making
- Pilot and integrate advanced digital tools including machine learning, predictive analytics, and real-time data feeds to enhance trading performance and uncover new opportunities.
- Conduct lookback performance reviews to assess forecast accuracy, market calls, and strategy effectiveness, driving continuous improvement.
- Build and maintain a strong network of industry contacts to enhance market intelligence and support forward-looking economic analysis.
- Champion process improvements by partnering with internal teams to optimize digital workflows, reduce manual effort, and accelerate / enhance insight generation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in energy trading, market analytics, or related roles.
- Solid understanding of commodity markets, including crude, natural gas, renewables and/or refined products.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in quantitative modeling and data visualization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint; experience with Python, R, SQL or similar languages for data analysis preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to distill complex market insights into clear, actionable recommendations for senior stakeholders.
